Subject: Steps to File the Team's DBA (Trade Name) with the State
NOTE: This is NOT always required. This process is outlined here in the case that the bank you have chosen requires a Trade Name/DBA.
Thank you so much for volunteering to help set up your WSA team's bank account!
The Oklahoma Secretary of State portal can be a bit confusing to navigate, so here are the exact step-by-step instructions to find and submit our Trade Name (DBA) application online.
Step 1: Create an Account
- Open the Oklahoma Secretary of State Business Services Portal.
- Click the big blue button labeled "File Business Documents Electronically".
- On the left-hand menu, click "Create Account" to set up a quick login (or log in if you already have one).
Step 2: Navigate to the Application
Once you are logged into your dashboard:
- Look at the left-hand sidebar menu and click "File a New Document".
- Scroll down the list of business types until you see the section for "Trade Names".
- Click on "Trade Name Report".
Step 3: Complete the Form Fields
Please use the following specific details to fill out the questionnaire:
- Trade Name: [Insert Exact Team Name, e.g., Sand Springs Select Baseball]
- Legal Name of Owner: [Insert Volunteer/Coach Full Legal Name]
- Type of Entity: Select "Individual" or "Unincorporated Association" (do not select LLC or Corporation).
- Brief Description of Business: "Youth recreational competitive sports team"
- Business Address: [Insert Team Mail Address or P.O. Box]
Step 4: Submit and Pay
- Review the summary page to ensure all spelling is correct.
- Provide a credit card to pay the flat $25 state filing fee.
The state usually approves these within 24 to 48 hours. Once approved, you will get an email with a link to download our official Certificate of Trade Name.
