HOW TO ESTABLISH A WSA TEAM BANK ACCOUNT
WSA Soccer allows teams to establish independent Team Association bank accounts to manage team funds, travel expenses, fundraising proceeds, and other team-related activities.
Team Association funds are independent from WSA Soccer and are not maintained under the WSA EIN.
🔷 STEP 1: FORM YOUR TEAM ASSOCIATION
Download and complete the following 2 documents:
• Team Association Bylaws Template MS Word 👈
• Team Association Banking Resolution (Certificate of Authority) Template MS Word 👈
These documents establish your Team Association and identify the individuals authorized to act on behalf of the Team.
Recommended Officers:
• Team Manager
• Treasurer
🔷 STEP 2: OBTAIN A TEAM EIN (FREE)
Apply online with the Internal Revenue Service for a free Employer Identification Number (EIN).
* The system is available only Monday - Friday 6 AM to 9 PM CST
* You will need a "responsible party SSN" acting on behalf of the Sports Team
* You will get IMMEDIATE DELIVERY of your EIN.
During the application process, select:

→ Sports Teams (Community)
Your Team EIN allows your Team Association to establish a bank account that is separate from any individual's personal finances and separate from WSA Soccer.
🔷 STEP 3: OPEN A TEAM BANK ACCOUNT
Take the following documents to the financial institution:
• Team Association Bylaws
• Banking Resolution / Certificate of Authority
• IRS EIN Confirmation Letter
• Personal identification of authorized signers
WSA recommends:
• Two authorized signers
• Signers from different households whenever possible
Local banks and credit unions are often more accommodating to small associations than large corporate banking institutions.
OPTIONAL: DBA REGISTRATION (in Oklahoma called "TRADE NAME")
Some financial institutions may request a Doing Business As (DBA) or Trade Name registration.
Example:
"WSA 2012 Boys Red Team Association"
STEP 1: Search the Oklahoma Database to See if your Name is Available
STEP 2: Resource Guide for Forming a DBA with the Oklahoma Secretary of State 👈
🔷 STEP 4: REGISTER YOUR TEAM ASSOCIATION WITH WSA
After establishing your account, submit the following to WSA:
• WSA Team Association Agreement
• Team Manager Information
• Treasurer Information
The Team Association Agreement authorizes the Team's use of the WSA name, logo, and fundraising privileges and confirms compliance with WSA Team Banking Policies.
