FAQS

FAQS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What program fits my child?

A:

At WSA, we encourage families to focus on finding the best fit for their child’s current stage of development, interest, and commitment level.

WSA Soccer provides opportunities for athletes across every phase of the game:

EXPLORATORY
For young players or families wanting to experience soccer in a fun, introductory environment without a full-year commitment.

DEVELOPMENTAL
For players ready to begin structured training, team environments, and long-term skill development.

ASPIRATIONAL
For ambitious athletes pursuing higher levels of competition, including collegiate and professional pathways.

WSA provides a clearly structured developmental pathway with opportunities available at every stage of the journey.

Q: How much travel is involved?

A:

Travel varies by program level.

Youth Development Program
Minimal to no travel.

Youth Academy
1–2 travel tournaments annually.

Competitive Program
3–4 travel tournaments annually, with league competition throughout Oklahoma.

National Program
Extensive regional and national travel, including overnight showcase events and national league competition.

SIDE FC 92 (Pro-Am)

Q: Can my child play multiple sports?

A:

Yes. WSA strongly supports multi-sport athletes.

Our coaches are encouraged to collaborate with families and help manage scheduling conflicts whenever possible.

As athletes reach older age groups — particularly U16 and above — training demands and load management become increasingly important, requiring additional communication and planning.

Q: What is the cost?

A:

Program costs vary by age and competition level.

Examples include:

  • Youth Development Program: approximately $75 per season
  • National Program: up to approximately $3,000 annually

Youth Academy, Competitive, and National Program fees include uniforms within the annual fee structure.

Q: Is financial aid available?

A:

Yes.

WSA provides need-based financial assistance across all programs.

For more than 20 years, WSA has remained committed to expanding access to the game through financial support for families in need.

In 2026, WSA’s financial assistance budget is anticipated to once again exceed $500,000.

Q: When are tryouts?

A:

Competitive and National Program tryouts are typically held during May and June each year.

Youth Development and Youth Academy programs do not require formal tryouts. Registered players are placed on teams based on age and developmental needs.

Players may also:

  • request evaluations throughout the year
  • request to join existing teams during the season

Placement is subject to roster availability at the time of the request.

Q: Can beginners play?

A:

Every athlete’s journey begins somewhere, and WSA provides environments for players at every experience level.
