Learn More About WSA's COLLEGE SEARCH SEMINARS

Over 90% of our attendees since the first sign in was collected in 1998 have gone on to play college soccer!  Attend the seminar.  It is free.  It is a catalyst we can't explain.  Check the club calendar for dates. These are generally held Jan-Feb and Summer, each year.

STEP 1: IDENTIFY YOUR FIT - LIST OF SCHOOLS OF INTEREST

STEP 2: CONTACT SCHOOLS w EMAIL of INTEREST
How to construct the emails you'll send to scouts:

STEP 3: SETTING UP YOUR PROFILE

STEP 4: CALL or REFERENCE FROM YOUR CLUB

  • Ask your WSA college pathway mentor to call or email your school on your behalf
  • Ask WSA coach and or program director to provide a reference
  • Encourage the scout you are speaking with to connect with your club staff

STEP 5: SET UP ELIGIBLITY CENTER ACCOUNTS (formerly aka the "clearinghouse")
DO THIS BY SOPHOMORE YEAR (if after sophomore year, do this immediately)
You can register online at

  • NCAA Clearinghouse:  NCAA ELIGIBILITY CENTER
  • NAIA Clearinghouse:  NAIA ELIGIBILITY CENTER
  • WSA recommends you apply for both. This involves establishing an account.  There is a fee (usually $50-$100). This fee can be waived by a waiver provided by your school counselor if needed.  If you do not have means to pay for this step let a WSA Staff know and we will solve.
  • Eligibility NCAA D-III: Determined by the institution.  Typically D-III schools have higher standards.  NO ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIPS!  BUT… ask us about the magical money coaches find 👀…..

  • Eligibility for NJCAA (JUCO): Eligibility clearance happens at institutional level. Click here to learn about requirements.

STEP 6: FOLLOW UP, FOLLOW UP, FOLLOW UP AGAIN

STEP 7: SET UP COLLEGE VISITS

  • Official Visits
    • Can begin Junior Year
    • Some or all is paid for by the University
  • Unofficial Visits
    • Can begin Fresh year (or earlier)
    • Allows you to talk "money" on campus w/ the staff
    • Set these up to coincide with your travel to league games, showcase events, and postseason
      • Everytime you travel with your club - visit a campus (even it is not coordinated by the team's staff)
  • Initiating the Visit
    • Contact the Staff first and "invite yourself" 😊
    • If you receive no response from the coaching staff ▶️ set a vist up with admissions
      • Let admissions know of your interest in the soccer program & see if they can connect you to the staff while you are on campus
  • Vist Plan
    • Some visits are "day visits" of just a couple to few hours
    • Some visits are "overnight stays"
    • Some visits can be as simple as a campus walk through

STEP 8: CONTINUE TO PREPARE

  • Prepare by performing and training academically to be ready for college
  • Prepare by training and growing as a player & teammate
  • Prepare by personally improving all apsects of your emotional, intellectual, athletic, and spiritual personhood.
  • COLLEGE IS A NEXT STEP in a LIFELONG PROCESS of GROWTH & EXPERIENCE

STEP 9: EXPLORE SCHOLARSHIPS & FINANCIAL AID

STEP 10: DECIDE & COMMIT

  • Make a good decision (Roger's 3-stepped nickel's worth advice below)
    • Extensive research and consideration
    • Consult those who love you
    • Pray
  • Make a Commitment
  • Go with the RIGHT ATTITUDE
    • Your own Attitude is the ultimate determinant of if your decision works for you
    • You control your attitude
