10 AND UNDER

10 AND UNDER

Kids at younger ages are learning to LOVE the game.  We aim to fuel their passion by teaching basic principles of the game, utilizing game-like scenarios.  Player development is the focus, rather than results.  Skill acquisition & creativity, are encouraged within a Growth Mindset environment - FAIL -> FORWARD.  Players are placed on teams based on ability to ensure constant opportunity for challenges.  The primary principle at this age is FUN and CHALLENGE.

As players make the transition from recreational level (Youth Development Program) to the pre-competitive level (Youth Academy Program), WSA Soccer offers a number of programs to suit families' needs and commitment levels.

  • WSA Youth Development Program - is a development program for introductory, ages 4-10, which is a seasonal program for athletes choosing not to commit to soccer year-round and wishing to stay in a local environment.  Players may continue in this program through age 19.  Available in Tulsa.  WSA-OKC and WSA-South have affiliated recreational soccer opportunities.

  • WSA Pre-Academy Program - development program, for ages 6-10, with a licensed and professional coach, which is seasonal (not year-round) and local (no travel).  Available at WSA-Tulsa.

  • WSA Youth Academy Program - Year-Round program, ages 7-10, with a Fall, Winter, Spring and abbreviated Summer schedule. This is a pre-competitive program, that includes a full-time dedicated coach and support staff for each team.  Teams participate in tournament play at U9-U10, and may travel 1-2 per season for league games. All 3 locations: Tulsa, OKC, South.

U11-U14

U11-U14

This range of development involves a myriad of changes that both physiological and psychosocial.  Growth spurts, or lack of growth spurts, can have large impacts on development and performance.  Players playing at this age typically are more serious about the game.

Players begin to understand the game from a tactical perspective, and very importantly become aware of of how their performance effects outcomes and results.  The emotional development of the athlete becomes important.

Player development is the priority ahead of results, and balancing learning through competition, failure and success, is key.  The Growth Mindset environment that encourages Failing -> Forward is highlighted.  Players are placed on teams by ability to ensure they are challenged each time they step on the field.

  • WSA Youth Development Program (YDP) U11-U14 - Seasonal program, in a localized league setting, coached by volunteer coaches, certified by WSA coaching methodology. Game continues to be played in a 7v7 format. Players assigned to teams by random draw or by friendship/neighborhood method.

U15-U19

U15-U19

Players become serious about soccer.  Decisions start to be made about whether or not soccer is going to be a lifelong passion or a fun pastime. Players fully understand technical and tactical aspects of the game.  From a player development standpoint performance and results matter, have consequences, and learning the game through that lens helps produce the best possible teammate, leader, and servant character.  WSA's game model focuses on the production of a player who is a problem solver and decision maker, confident on the ball, and a servant leader.

Players are prepared to succeed at the college and potentially professional levels.  Teams begin attending showcases, players participate in ID Centers, and next level opportunities become a part of the environment.  At this stage the player development mantra of
PERSON > PLAYER still reigns, and the Growth Mindset environment becomes more important to continue to drive the FAIL -> FORWARD mantra which WSA believes helps each player, and team, reach their full potential.

  • WSA Competitive Program - Year-round program that interfaces high school soccer schedules with 70% or more of the competition phase completed before Christmas.  Includes showcases & ID Centers.  All 3 locations: Tulsa, OKC, South.
