Could an athlete be unsafe or at risk of harm?

This includes suspected abuse, harassment, discrimination, hazing, retaliation, serious misconduct, threats, self-harm, dangerous supervision, or another situation requiring immediate protection.

Choose a program

Which WSA program does your child participate in?

Select the program to move directly to its parent communication guidance.

PROGRAM 1

Youth Development

Keep communication simple, supportive, and centered on the young child’s experience.

I have a question

Begin with the coach or Youth Development program contact for schedules, participation, equipment, weather, or learning-environment questions.

I want to share feedback

Share a specific appreciation, observation, or suggestion with the coach or Youth Development leader. Focus on enjoyment, belonging, confidence, and engagement.

I have a concern
  1. Begin with the coach and request a calm conversation.
  2. Describe specific observations about the child’s experience.
  3. Avoid comparing young players.
  4. If unresolved, contact the Youth Development Director.
PROGRAM 2

Youth Academy

Use developmentally appropriate communication that builds confidence, learning, and independence.

I have a question

Begin with the coach or Academy contact for training, game format, attendance, scheduling, or developmental-method questions.

I want to share feedback

Share feedback directly with the coach or Academy leader. Keep it specific and centered on learning, confidence, independence, and enjoyment.

I have a concern

If more than one lane may apply, use Lane 1 whenever immediate protection or serious misconduct may be involved.

Lane 1 Immediate Protection

Safety, suspected abuse, serious misconduct, harassment, retaliation, or any immediate risk of harm.

Lane 2 Athlete Experience

Training or game environment, confidence, enjoyment, relationships, coaching methods, playing opportunities, or the child’s developmental experience. Begin with the coach and schedule a calm conversation away from game day.

Lane 3 Information and Operations

Schedules, attendance, equipment, registration, fees, uniforms, weather policies, program format, or other administrative questions.

PROGRAM 3

Competitive Program

Use direct, respectful communication and begin with the person closest to the matter.

I have a question
  • Team matters: coach
  • Schedules and logistics: team manager
  • Registration, billing, or uniforms: club administration
  • Program policy: Competitive Director
I want to share feedback

Share team-specific feedback with the coach and program-wide feedback with the Competitive Director. Include an observable example and a constructive suggestion when possible.

Training, games, confidence, morale, coaching methods, playing time, position, team relationships, or roster and team placement. Begin with the coach and request a scheduled conversation away from game day.

Lane 3 Information and Operations

Schedules, travel, registration, fees, uniforms, policies, tryouts, tournaments, or other administrative and program questions.

PROGRAM 4

National Program

Use the established three-lane process for concerns and direct questions to the responsible role.

I have a question
  • Team schedule or travel: coach or team manager
  • Registration, invoices, or uniforms: club administration
  • Weather, tryouts, or policy: National Program Director
  • College promotion: college pathway contact, coach, or Director
I want to share feedback

Share team-specific feedback with the coach. Share program-wide feedback with the National Program Director. Appreciation and constructive suggestions are welcome.

I have a concern

If more than one lane may apply, use Lane 1 whenever immediate protection or serious misconduct may be involved.

Lane 1 Immediate Protection

Safety, serious misconduct, harassment, retaliation, or immediate risk.

Lane 2 Athlete Experience

Training, games, confidence, playing time, position, relationships, or roster placement. Begin with the coach.

Lane 3 Information and Operations

Schedules, travel, registration, fees, uniforms, policies, tryouts, or college programming.

Shared communication expectations

Communicate respectfully, factually, confidentially, and with a focus on solutions. Do not recruit other parents, discuss another athlete, circulate negative narratives, or use public posts to resolve a concern. This does not limit good-faith safety reporting, appropriate support, cooperation with authorities, or protected rights.

When uncertain, share the facts you know and ask a WSA official to help identify the correct pathway.
